Major Storylines:
- After scoring his first SSS win at his home track in dramatic fashion, 17-year-old Anderson Bowen looks to continue his momentum after taking the series points lead two weeks ago as the SSS visits Mobile for the third time of the four race series in 2014
- Despite winning four times this season, the winner of April’s SSS race at Mobile, Bubba Pollard looks to take back control of the championship picture.
- With just six races remaining in the 2014 season, Donnie Wilson of Oklahoma City – who won the last SSS race at Mobile in May – and the rest of the series’ teams and drivers look to garner precious late-season momentum in hopes of a championship run
- Jay Jay Day (Theodore, Ala) and his fellow Super Truck competitors are looking to end the season on a high note. With just 37 points separating the top four drivers in the standings, the division’s championship battle is anything but wrapped up.
- After failing post-race technical inspection two months ago, then Super Stock points leader Dave Mader III (Irvington, Ala) was awarded zero points as a result. Now sitting third in the standings and 83 markers behind leader, Bobby Baria (Grand Bay, Ala), time is running out for the former NASCAR driver.
- Virtually trading wins amongst each other in the last three events, Brannon Fowler, Lee “Red Dog” Reynolds (Theodore, Ala) and Mark Barnhill (Irvington, Ala) have been the class of the field all season in the Sportsman division. With the three separated by just 39 points, this trio’s championship fight could very well go down to the last turn of the final race of the season.
- The 2014 season in the Bomber division can be summed up using one name: BJ Leytham (Mobile, Ala). Winning every race in the division since the season stated in March, and collecting his own bounty money along the way, he holds a commanding 142-point lead over Matt Jackson (Turnerville, Ala) in the division points standings.
- With 16 consecutive wins dating back to 2013, Leytham will look to continue his dominance – but a strong contingent of his foes are looking for their own spoils.
The jam-packed night of racing begins Saturday night, July 26th at 7pm. Taking pride in their family friendly atmosphere, children five and under are admitted to the grandstands free of charge. Discounts are also offered for members of the military, seniors and students.
