After an off weekend to celebrate Canada’s Civic holiday the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series teams are back in action this weekend at one of the most popular events on the tour, the Grand Prix de Trois Rivieres.
In seven appearances at the famed Grand Prix de Trois Rivieres, Steckly is tied for second with six top ten finishes, featuring a runner up finish in 2008. “We haven’t managed to put a win on the board in a road course race yet,” said Steckly from his Milverton, Ontario race shop. “We know we are competitive and we have several second place finishes and while it used to bother me that we hadn’t won on a road course, I don’t even think about it anymore. As long as we can continue to win championships that’s really all that matters to us.”
The Grand Prix de Trois Rivieres is the oldest street course race in North America and 2014 marks the 45th year for the event. The 1.53 mile, 11 turn temporary street course is very challenging and is unique from other street and road courses in that the competitor’s race counter clockwise.
The schedule shows first practice on Saturday Aug. 9th from 10:50 a.m. until 11:30 a.m., second practice at 1:15 p.m. – 1:55 p.m. Qualifying will take place later in the day at 5 p.m. Sunday will start with an autograph session at 2 p.m. and the green flag for the JuliaWine.com Le 50 Tours will fly at 3:30 p.m.
