INNISFIL, Ontario – The pieces looked to be coming together for another solid top-three finish for Sean Cronan, though that all changed in the process of a couple of minutes. Still, the driver of the No. 84 Late Model was able to climb his way back up to a seventh place finish.
Cronan started off the night by posting a second place finish in his heat to qualify for the ‘Dash for Cash’ and the sweet 12 of the feature. He would then post a fourth place finish in the Dash for Cash before drawing the sixth place starting spot for the 50-lap feature.
Cronan would immediately begin to work his way up through the field, moving into third behind Mike Bentley and Dwayne Baker at lap six. Slowly wheeling in Baker and working to save his tires, he’d get alongside Baker for second at lap 22, before making the pass at lap 24.
Cronan would then begin to wheel in leader Mike Bentley, while beginning to work his way through the lap traffic. Each of the lap cars was given the move over flag and after a lap or two, they’d eventually move their way down to allow the leaders to go by. Cronan worked his way by the first group before coming up on Dave Bartlett with 13 laps to go.
Cronan would go to Bartlett’s outside down the frontstretch to make the pass and continue to try and reel in Bentley. As they got down towards turn one, Bartlett would get sideways, coming across Cronan’s front bumper and making contact with the outside wall for the caution. To the dismay of the majority of the fans in the crowd, Sunset Speedway officials would place Cronan to the back of the lead lap cars as an “involved car”.
Restarting in the 14th position, Cronan would work his way up to the 11th position after the ensuing restart took out three of the front runners. From then on, Cronan was made some passes in the final 12 laps to post a solid seventh place finish.
