Analyzing The Wilson Equipment 300 At Riverside International Speedway
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Aug. 12, 2014) – The 2014 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1 season will continue with the Wilson Equipment 300 on Saturday at Riverside International Speedway near Antigonish, Nova Scotia. Below is a statistical look at the performance of the series and selected drivers at the track:
Wilson Equipment 300 Setup:
- Mark Dilley is the only driver to finish in the top 10 in each of the seven all-time NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1 races at Riverside International Speedway. He won 2007’s inaugural event.
- L.P. Dumoulin brings the season points lead to Riverside, where he has yet to register a top-10 finish in three previous appearances.
- J.R. Fitzpatrick, second in the standings entering this week, has three runner-up finishes at Riverside. He’s led laps in all six of his starts there.
- D.J. Kennington is the only driver with multiple Riverside victories. He has yet to reach Victory Lane in 2014.
At Riverside International Speedway:
History
- Opened in 1969 as a .333-mile scaled version of Tennessee’s .533-mile Bristol Motor Speedway.
- Played host to the former NASCAR North Tour in the early 1980s.
- Was completely rebuilt in 2006.
- Mark Dilley won the inaugural NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1 race at Riverside on Sept. 16, 2007. Peter Gibbons captured the first Riverside pole.

- The previous seven events have produced six different race victors, led by D.J. Kennington’s two triumphs.
- There have been four different pole winners in seven events, topped by three from Scott Steckly.
- Seven drivers have participated in all seven previous events, and five are expected to extend the streak this week.
- Steckly, in 2011, is the only driver to win from the pole.
- Andrew Ranger’s 9.159-second margin of victory at Riverside in 2009 is the all-time series record for any track.
- Dodge has been the winning manufacturer in five events while Chevrolet and Ford have one victory apiece.

- The 2014 season is the eighth for the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1.
- The 2014 schedule features 11 races at 10 different tracks across five provinces.
- J.R. Fitzpatrick opened the campaign with a dominant victory at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park on May 18. Andrew Ranger set the track record in qualifying.
- Steve Mathews earned his third career pole and Jason Hathaway took the checkered flag for the fourth time in his career on June 15 in the series’ inaugural visit to Autodrome Chaudiere. The race was postponed one day due to rain.
- Ranger swept the weekend at Circuit ICAR with his second straight pole and third win in a row in the event on July 6.
- The western swing began on July 11 with the series’ inaugural visit to Edmonton International Raceway. Alex Tagliani earned his fifth career pole and Ranger took down a second straight victory.
- L.P. Dumoulin closed out the western swing in Victory Lane at Auto Clearing Motor Speedway on July 16. Scott Steckly earned the pole.
- Steckly broke through for his first win of the year in dominant fashion as he repeated as victor at Autodrome St-Eustache on July 26.
- Dumoulin scored his first hometown win when he took the checkered flag in the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivieres on Aug. 10. Marc-Antoine Camirand earned his first career pole prior to the race.
- Following the Wilson Equipment 300, the series will return to Bowmanville, Ontario, for the Pinty’s presents the Clarington 200 on Aug. 31 at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.
