(Lucan, ON)The summer of 2014 can be remembered as being hot and cold. No truer words can be spoken about the summer of Delaware Speedway competitor Trevor Collver. Entering his first year in the G.A.W. Super Stocks at Delaware Speedway, Collver has learned many valuable lessons that will serve him well in future seasons to come.
Mid June, Collver was involved in a multi car wreck in the opening round of the Flamboro/Delaware Home & Home series that forced him into a virtual rebuild of his race car. Clutch failure sideline the TCM team a week after his return, a brake failure in an off night track test session resulted in a meeting with Delaware Speedways turn 2 wall, Engine gremlins resulted in a poor finish a week later, and finally a burnt plug wire while running second late in a recent feature race. Things have been looking very grim in the Collver camp.
With the teams tireless efforts, long nights in shop and bruised feelings, better race nights are ahead, This past weekend, the Delaware Speedway G.A.W. Super Stocks were back in action and Trevor Collver was quick and survived a green-white-checkered finish in the heat race to pick up his first win of the season. In the feature race, Collver led the first 3 laps until bad luck once again reared its ugly head and Collver picked up some debris and flattened out the right front tire. A well timed caution flag allowed the crew to change the tire under the yellow. By the end of the 35 lap feature, Collver managed to climb his way to sixth position at the checkered flag.
Although the Championship goals have been all but eradicated, there are some personal goals still yet to achieve. Fellow competitor Brandon verhoovan has dominated the season thus far, and has shown he can be beaten by just a handful of competitors. Trevor Collver feels he has the driving capability, the car and WILL to be a Feature race winner by seasons end. The Final night of Championship Points paying racing is Friday August 29, at Delaware Speedway. It will feature an Autograph session and an opportunity to meet the 19 year old driver.
Trevor Collver Motorsports will also compete in the season ending Great Canadian Race Weekend Sept 19-20 with partnership from Carter Trucking, Champion Spark Plugs, Outback Tire shack, Mark Kennedy Trucking, Hodgins Custom Service, G&L Automotive, Ron O Brien ReMax, Melrose Garage, Dave Collver Auto Care, Don Collver Automotive and Transmission, Collver Towing, Fix Auto, Customclothing4U.com, Hallmark Memorials, Huron Tractor, Dave Moore Fuels and Mac’s Convenience.
