August 9th Race #22
This was the 3rd annual Family Faith Night at Sunset Speedway. The past two were very successful as was this night. The weather was awesome and one of the biggest crowds of the season came to watch stock car racing at its finest.
Prior to the race we brought our car to the VIP area. I explained about racing and my faith and dealing with the challenges on the race track. There was a Q & A, lots of good food…..not to mention the awesome seats to view the race track.
The racing was very close, hard fought battles all night. We finished 8th in our heat and 3rd in the next race below. Fans got their thrills with the fast close competition.
Lauren ran awesome in all her races. The Mini Stocks had 28 cars start in their feature event. Lauren would cross the line in 10th place pulling away from 11th after a late race caution bunched all the cars together.
Coming Up
Next week is the 2nd Annual Racing Camp held at Sunset Speedway. Last year there were 5 boys and girls to enjoy the daily camp hosted by Scripture Union Sports. This year we have over 30 kids signed up. Special thanks to our sponsors who helped provide an opportunity for at least 8 kids to go to camp, some who may not have been able to go unless the funds were provided. I will be conducting a racing seminar twice a day in the tech building at Sunset Speedway with our Quaker State Late Model.
