Kyle Busch would start the weekend off as he wanted by scoring the Keystone Light Pole Award for the UNOH 200 presented by ZLOOP. Busch would post a lap of 15.392 seconds en route to his 16th career pole award and his fourth of the season. In each of the races Busch has entered this year, he has posted a victory and Bristol could lead to another victory based on previous success on the half-mile oval.
“Those places that you like, you tend to be good at – or perhaps you just really like the places that you’re good at,” Busch said. “Great truck here today so excited about opportunity tonight and hopefully start off the weekend with a win.”
Cole Custer would qualify second for his fourth top-10 start of the season. In four previous starts this year, Custer has finished no worse than 15th.
“I think we’re a little too loose off four,” Custer commented. “We made some whole sale changes so I think we’ll be pretty decent for the race.”
Ron Hornaday Jr. qualified third for his ninth top-10 start of the year, followed by Brad Keselowski and Gray Gaulding. German Quiroga qualified sixth as he is on a string of recent success, followed by Johnny Sauter, Darrell Wallace Jr., Ben Rhodes, Brandon Jones and Matt Crafton.
Previous Bristol winner Timothy Peters would qualify 20th with his team electing to give up that starting spot to make adjustments following qualifying.
Michael Affarano was the only driver who failed to qualify.
