The #24 Sportchief/Ecotone entry of Luc Lesage came to CTMP for their fourth and final race of the 2014 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1 event of 2014. After early race success followed by a couple of setbacks, Lesage finished just outside the top 20.
During the practice session on Saturday, Lesage quickly found speed and was posting times to keep him near the top of the leader board. “My guys brought a great car to the track for us this weekend,” said Lesage. When practice was complete, the #24 car was shown as 7th quickest.
Next up for the Ecotone/Sportchief entry was qualifying late in the day on Saturday. “We just didn’t quick get the clean lap we were looking for but it’s a long race and I am confident we can get to top five tomorrow,” he stated. Lesage was scored 13th quickest at the end of the twenty minute session.
The Pinty’s presents the Clarington 200 had Lesage starting from row seven on the inside and he immediately starting moving up. After making scheduled stop for fuel and tires Lesage suffered an on track incident and was penalized by NASCAR for rough driving. “I was running close with another competitor and he brake checked me,” he stated. “NASCAR deemed it rough driving and I guess I have to accept that. We had a terrific car and we ran some of the fastest laps of the race in the early going. I want to thank all of our sponsors for this great opportunity and we hope to be back full time next year.” Luc Lesage was officially scored in 21st place.
The Pintys presents the Clarington 200 from Canadian Tire Motorsport Park will air on TSN on Saturday Sept. 6 at 5:30 p.m. EDT and Thurs. Sept. 18th at 8 p.m. on RDS2.
