INNISFIL, Ontario – On Saturday night at Sunset Speedway, all the pieces would come together for Sean Cronan as he would lead flag-to-flag en route to scoring the Late Model feature victory.
Cronan would start off the night by finishing second in his heat to qualify for the Dash for Cash, placing third in the Dash.
The feature line-up would set by a random Frisbee draw involving the fans. After subpar draws throughout the season so far, luck would change tonight as Cronan would draw the pole spot for the 50-lap feature.
Starting on pole, Cronan would get a good start to hold the advantage over Mat Box. He would then start to stretch the lead out, leading by half a straightaway before the first caution flew at lap 11.
A good restart allowed Cronan to keep the lead once again, stretching it out once again, till the caution flew once again at lap 21. From lap 21 to lap 41, there’d be four different cautions, bringing four restarts. Each time, Cronan was able to hold off whomever was in second, whether Box or Chris Morrow, on the restart and stretch the lead out again.
Inside the final 10 laps, Cronan looked to be set towards a trip to victory lane with ease when the caution flew on the last lap for a combination of Morrow stalling and Mike Wilkinson spinning. The result would be a green-white-checkered.
Cronan would tackle the green-white-checkered with ease, getting a good restart ahead of Taylor Holdaway to lead the last two laps and score the victory.
