Charlotte, N.C. (September, 11 2014) – Dalton Sargeant and the No. 54 Lee Pulliam Performance/Kiker Motorsports team are looking forward to a double-header weekend at Southern National Motorsports Park and South Boston Speedway this weekend. On Friday, September 12 Southern National Motorsports Park will host twin 75-lap feature events, and onSaturday, September 13 South Boston Speedway will host twin-75 lap feature events. Sargeant will look to continue his march up the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series (NWAAS) National point standings with the opportunity to capitalize on four points races in one weekend, and will also will be making his debut at the historic South Boston Speedway.
- Get to the Points: Dalton Sargeant moved into the 103rd position out of the 500 possible drivers that NASCAR HomeTracks ranks nationwide, and is also ranked in the 21st position in the state of North Carolina. Just one month ago, Sargeant occupied the 191stposition in the nationwide NASCAR HomeTracks rankings.
- Welcome Back: Just one week ago Sargeant made his debut in the No. 54 Lee Pulliam Performance/Kiker Motorsports Chevrolet SS. The new relationship instantly paid dividends with driver coach Lee Pulliam, as Sargeant finished 2nd and 3rd on Friday, September 5 at Caraway Speedway and 11th and 6th on Saturday, September 6 at Motor Mile Speedway. This weekend’s events mark the second consecutive weekend that Sargeant will compete for Lee Pulliam Performance and Kiker Motorsports.

- Southern National Motorsports Park is a .4-mile track that originally opened in 1993. The track features 17 degree banking in the turns and 7 degrees on the straightaways and is located in Lucama, NC near Raleigh, NC. The track is one of the fastest and newest that the NWAAS competes at in the Southeast due to the high banking and sweeping corners.
- South Boston Speedway is one of stock car racing’s most storied venues, and was originally opened in 1957. South Boston Speedway or ‘SoBo’ is located in South Boston, VA and is owned by Mattco, Inc, the Mattioli family trust that owns Pocono Raceway, with long time General Manager Cathy Rice operating the track. NASCAR’s Sprint Cup Series has not raced at the track since 1971; however, NASCAR’s Busch Series (now Nationwide Series) raced here until 2000. After the NASCAR Busch Series left the schedule, the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series competed at SoBo until 2003. Some of the better known graduates of South Boston’sSaturday night weekly events include Denny Hamlin, Jeff Burton, Ward Burton, Elliott Sadler, Stacy Compton, and the Bodine brothers (Todd, Geoff and Brett). Danville, Virginia driver Wendell Scott, the first African-American driver to compete at NASCAR’s highest level, also raced in Modified Division events here.
- Dalton Sargeant
Sargeant is a true oval-track rookie, competing in his first year of late model racing and his first season of oval-track competition. In only 30 career starts in 2014, he has one Late Model win at Virginia International Raceway, eight top-5 finishes and 19 top-10 finishes.
“This weekend is definitely going to be an exciting one for myself and my Lee Pulliam Performance/Kiker Motorsports team. I always look forward to going to Southern National Motorsports Park, it’s a track that’s really fun to drive and one of the fastest that we visit. Now with a new team, and the proverbial Lee Pulliam as a driver coach and spotter who has countless wins at the track..I’m really expecting a good finish. After Friday night at Southern National, we’ll start another new chapter as a race team, going to South Boston Speedway. It will be my first time as a driver at the historic venue, and it’s been a race that I’ve had circled on my calendar for some time. I’ve heard a lot about the track, the different grooves you can run, and having Lee Pulliam as a coach will pay big dividends for me as a driver who’s never seen the racetrack before. All in all, it will be an exciting weekend for us as a new team, and with all that experience and knowledge behind me, we are definitely expecting some good results.”
