Spanish Round Concludes Formula Renault 2.0 ALPS Season
Toronto, Ontario (October 01, 2014) – Canadian racer Luke Chudleigh will conclude the 2014 Formula Renault 2.0 ALPS Series this weekend with the seventh and final double-header round of the year, hosted at the Jerez Circuit in Spain, Saturday 4th – Sunday 5th October.
Sitting 8th in the Driver Standings, the Milton-based entrant is focused on a strong finish to his sophomore season competing in Europe with Tech1 Racing. As the team’s highest placed driver in the points, the 19-year-old heads to Spain looking to further build on performances that have seen him challenging for podiums at the likes of Pau, Red Bull Ring and Monza throughout the year.
With almost a month passing since a disappointing outing, blighted by technical issues, at the previous round in Italy, Chudleigh is keen to get back behind the wheel of his Vitamindrip®-supported entry and tackle Jerez’s 13-turn layout this weekend.
“Jerez is an interesting track to finish the championship on because it’s really quite challenging,” stated Luke. “Much like the Hungaroring, this is a circuit notoriously difficult to overtake on! The high speed layout offers two obvious places to attempt a pass, those are the hairpin turns in sectors two and three. But, as we’re allowed to defend in Europe, anticipating the overtake in advance you can keep someone behind you the entire race if you have the pace to do it!
“I’m really hoping I won’t be watching my mirrors much this weekend in Spain though. My last two outings have been pretty frustrating for a host of reasons. That said, I’m viewing Jerez as a totally clean slate, I’m relaxed and I’ll take what’s available at the weekend. I’m fighting all the way to the final checkered flag.”
Luke’s journey in Europe has been documented this season by a film crew and details of this exciting broadcast will be released in the near future. The opportunity to have his partners exposed through this medium is also a platform the Ontario racer is busy capitalizing on as he looks ahead to his planned 2015 campaign.
Qualifying for this weekend’s races takes place at Jerez on Saturday. Race 1 on Sunday gets underway at 10:50am CET / 5:50am EST with Race 2 set for later in the day at 3pm CET / 9am EST – both events are 25 minutes plus one lap in length.
Luke Chudleigh is supported by Vitamindrip®, Chudleigh’s, ARM Training, Tech1 Racing, Adidas and PRIME/Wickens Management.
