Due to the huge car count for the annual Velocity event and the overflowing pit area that had trailers jammed in very tight from one end to the other, the Spira Team decided to leave their cars and trailers at the track and either got rides home with friends or borrowed a vehicle from someone that was camping at the track for the weekend. It was not long before the grandstands were filled
to capacity for the popular event and after one practice session, the cars lined up for the conci and feature races.
Jake lined up to start 3rd in the last chance qualifying race with 13 other cars, as Samantha and Billy readied their cars for the feature event as they qualified the previous day. Only the top 6 would move into the feature and Jake was well aware that he had to race hard, but also race clean to get into the main event. The #88 moved into 2nd place early and maintained the position to finish the same, despite many cautions and restarts throughout the 15 lap race.
In the mid afternoon sunshine, the mini-stocks lined up for their feature event with Billy starting 6th, Samantha 13th and Jake 19th out of 28 cars. Billy slid back two positions early as the #39 pushed up towards the wall where Billy was running and then after the cars sorted themselves out throughout the first ten laps, Samantha gained six positions into 7th, Billy was up to 5th as Jake advanced into 16th. The #35 and #72 maintained the pace out front as Billy moved into 4th on lap 15, Sam took over 6th two laps later and on lap 20, Jake moved into 14th in what was a very competitive field of cars. As they approached the final ten laps, Billy moved by the #6 car for 3rd as Samantha challenged the #51 for 5th, taking the position one lap later. The #35 remained out front since the start, followed by the #72 who was not far behind as they ran through lapped traffic in the caution free event, well ahead of Billy who was in 3rd. With three laps remaining, Sam passed the #6 to take over 4th behind Billy and they would finish in that order with Jake finishing 14th.
The finishing order on the track would not end up being the final positions after technical inspection as the #35 who ran out front for all 35 laps was disqualified for illegal modifications to his suspension. With the disqualification of the first place car, the win was award to Jordan Howse in the #72 car who ran an awesome race for his first win as a mini-stock driver, 2nd was given to Billy, Samantha received 3rd and Jake was moved up to finish 12th
