Concord, NC (March 5, 2015) – Hailing from the ‘Rocky Mountain State’, Dominic Ursetta is set to make his ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards debut with Venturini Motorsports in next week’s Mobile 200 at Mobile International Speedway.
Recently signed to a two race contract, Ursetta will drive the No.55 Mosquito Patch – Arvada Excavating & Productive Data Solutions Toyota with veteran crew chief Jeff McClure leading the charge. Ursetta will also compete in the upcoming Federated Auto Parts 200 at Salem Speedway on April 26th.
“The ARCA Series is rich in history and has developed some great racers over the years. Should be a lot of fun. It’s a great opportunity to start off here. No doubt this is the biggest race of my career so far,” said Ursetta.
At 26-years old the Arvada, Colorado native is coming off a successful season in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series where he captured the 2014 Super Late Model Colorado State Championship. During his breakout season Ursetta notched 10 victories, along with an impressive second place finishing average in 15 starts. During the same year he also won the track championship at Colorado National Speedway.
A first generation driver, Ursetta’s passion for racing started at the tender age of six watching his hometown hero, Rick Carelli (NASCAR/ARCA driver) – the “High Plains Drifter”, turn laps at Colorado National Speedway. Ursetta’s young driving career spans 10-years – competing early on in the IMCA Modified and SRL Series where he captured 34 wins and 6 track championships from 2007-2013.
Prior to his first series start Ursetta will join teammate Brandon Jones (No.25 Ansell-Menards Toyota) for an open test at Mobile Int’l Speedway on Saturday, March 7th.
Ursetta will become the 35th driver to make their ARCA debut with Venturini Motorsports adding his name to a list of current NASCAR drivers which in part include; this year’s Daytona 500 winner, Joey Logano, Alex Bowman, Ryan Blaney, Erik Jones, Brennan Poole, Daniel Suarez, Ryan Reed and Justin Boston.
In their first VMS/ARCA start the following drivers found victory lane; Joey Logano (Rockingham, 08’), Scott Lagasse Jr. (Chicago, 08’), Sean Caisse (Rockingham, 09’), Alex Bowman (Madison, 11’), Brennan Poole (Salem, 11’) and Austin Theriault (Michigan, 14’). Also noteworthy, drivers Ryan Blaney and Clint King each won the Menard’s Pole Award presented by Ansell in their first series start with the team.
