BROOKLYN, Mich. (April 2, 2015) – Experience Jackson is proud to announce the continuation of its partnership with Michigan International Speedway to include the sponsorship of the SPEEDWAY STOMP™ 5K.
Michigan International Speedway will host the inaugural SPEEDWAY STOMP™ 5K paced by Experience Jackson on Friday, May 8, the day before this year’s Michigan Wine and Beer Fest presented by Experience Jackson.
“Experience Jackson is proud to support the addition of the SPEEDWAY STOMP™ 5K run to the May 9th Michigan Wine and Beer Festival weekend,” Experience Jackson President/Chief Executive Officer Mindy Bradish-Orta said. “Having a variety of events spread throughout a weekend helps draw out of town guests into Jackson County, and gives these guests a great reason to spend more time and money with Jackson County businesses like our hotels, restaurants and attractions.”
The 3.1-mile run around portions of the MIS oval and through parts of its historic grounds will serve as a lead-in event the evening before the May 9 Michigan Wine and Beer Fest.
Cost is $45 per runner and includes an inaugural finisher’s medal, commemorative event shirt, official timing and scoring bib, results as well as a ticket to the May 9 Michigan Wine and Beer Fest presented by Experience Jackson. (Please note: Any age may enter the SPEEDWAY STOMP™ 5K paced by Experience Jackson, but only guests 21 and older may use the ticket to the wine fest.)
The SPEEDWAY STOMP™ paced by Experience Jackson will begin at 7 p.m.; registration opens at 5 p.m. that day.
“We are excited to expand our partnership with Experience Jackson to include the SPEEDWAY STOMP™ 5K paced by Experience Jackson,” track President Roger Curtis said. “MIS is so excited to open our beautiful facility to yet another new event to bring tourism to the area. The SPEEDWAY STOMP™ 5K adds even more fun to the weekend and includes a Michigan Wine and Beer Fest ticket. In addition to running on parts of the historic oval and our park-like grounds, it will be a unique evening run experience.”
The race will be limited to the first 1,000 participants, and organizers expect to be at capacity. The top-finishing male runner and female runner will each receive an award.
Registration the day of the event, if not sold out in advance, will be $50.
There will be spectator viewing areas along the course.
