(Grand Bend ON) 2014 Auto Fusion Towing Legend Car Series driver Josh Indig recently bestowed quite an honour from the National INEX Legend Car Series in Charlotte NC. He was awarded the National Champion in the Young Lions Division Canada Central. The Belle River Legend Stand out used 2 Feature wins, and consistent finishes, at multiple tracks to claim the top prize over hundreds of competitors in North America.
The 2014 Season was quite busy for Indig’s team. Travelling to speedways both sides of the Canadian/US border. Indig brought home trophies s at 2 Canadian Speedways, Sunset Speedway in Innisfil ON, besting the Ontario Legend Series teams, and one in win at Grand Bend Speedway, taking home a bonus $500 in bounty hunting race beating favourite Sean McPherson.
If competing full time at Grand Bend Speedway wasn’t enough. Indig travelled to Toledo Speedway, Flat Rock Speedway, and Spartan Speedway throughout the summer months with mixed results, but still ran consistently in the top 5.
Once the regular season had concluded. Indig and the #5 B.O.S. Auto Parts team hauled down to Flemington New Jersey’s Wall Stadium for the Turkey Nationals. Indig had practiced in the top 10 and had some difficulty in qualifying heats. Indig was turned around in the early going and missed a transferring to the A Main. The team was relegated to the B main and started dead last. Indig put on a show of skill and determination and raced his way to one spot shy of the transfer spot. Although not making the A Main on finishing position. He was given a starting spot as a Promotors Choice.
Starting shot gun on the field for the A Main, Indig raced his way to the top ten, but a scoring error after a mid race caution put him back outside the top 20. Despite the error, Indig raced his way back to the 15th position by the time the Checkers fell.
The #5 team travelled to Orlando Florida this past December to compete in the annual Winter Nationals. Competing against teams with very large budgets, the team was certainly an underdog at this event. Moving up to the Semi-Pro division proved to be a real challenge, as it by far, was the most competitive division.
Like at the Turkey Nationals, more scoring issues plagued the team in the qualifiers. Despite being in a transfer position at the time of a late caution/checker scenario, Indig was put pack a few positions based on video tape data from 3 laps previous. This result put them outside the transfer position. The team decided to withdraw their entry rather than risk tearing up equipment fighting from the rear to advance further.
2015 The B.O.S. Auto parts team welcomes some new sponsors for the campaign. Walkerville Brewery has signed on as the new primary Sponsor and the team also welcomes Jet XStream to the #5 Team. Indig will compete with the Grand Bend Speedway Legends and will also compete as much as they can both sides of the border in hopes of achieving similar success in 2014.
The INEX Legend Series Cars compete in Southern Ontario at Grand Bend Speedway, and with the Ontario Legends program at Peterborough Speedway and Sunset Speedway. The Marquis event on the schedule is the July 4 Bash at the Beach with a winners pay of $1000. Teams from Michigan, Ohio, and The Ontario Legend Series have been invited to compete.
