In the debut race for the newly formed Signs of Innovation Mighty Mini division at Sunset Speedway, it’d be Nic Montanari scoring the victory.
The night didn’t go well for everybody, though, as Jerry Noble would go around on the backstretch on lap three of his heat, collecting Bob Phinnemore, Chris Allard and Dylan Holmes. Montanari would go on to score the victory ahead of Fred Jordan, Robert Toope, Nick St. Onge, Lisa DeLeeuw, Thomas Dunn and Noble.
The second heat ran smoothly with Cameron McGlashan scoring the victory ahead of Eric Rainey, Stefan Semeraro, Doug Wilman, Stefan Woyslaw, Jeremy McLean, Treyten Lapcevich, Wendy Adams, Melissa Bullen, Scott Brooks and Peter Wakeling.
Phinnemore would bounce back following his heat wreck to win the B-Main, ahead of Lapceivch, Brooks, Adams, Mike Robinson Jr., Bullen, Noble, Toope and Dunn.
Unfortunately, the Dash wouldn’t go as Wilman wanted as he would get into the wall on lap four, resulting in the end of his night. Montanari kept his strong run going, winning ahead of Jordan, McGlashan, Rainey, Semeraro, Josh Inglis, Woyslaw, St. Onge, McLean, Toope and DeLeeuw.
Come feature time, Wendy Adams put her No. 78 Prosigns, CPA Simcoe County Pool League, Robson Janitorial, Innisfil Machine and Weld, Ernie’s Performance, Beatty Automotive, The UPS Store – Collingwood, Performance Improvements and RSA Autoparts Mustang on the pole ahead of Nic Montanari, Treyten Lapcevich, Josh Inglis, Fred Jordan, Eric Rainey, Stefan Semeraro, Nick St. Onge, Stefan Woyslaw, Robert Toope, Lisa DeLeeuw, Cameron McGlashan, Bob Phinnemore, Jeremy McLean, Jerry Noble, James Campbell, Chris Allard, Peter Wakeling, Melissa Bullen and Scott Brooks. Robinson would come down pit road under the pace laps and failed to start the race due to mechanical issues.
Josh Inglis would jump out to the early lead ahead of the field while the caution flew on lap two for Eric Rainey stalling. Inglis and McGlashan would run side-by-side on the restart, with McGlashan putting his No. 83 Mustang out front while Inglis battled three-wide with Woyslaw and Semeraro three-wide for second. Woyslaw would get the spot, leaving Inglis to battle Semeraro for third.
There’d be a bit of chaos mid-pack at lap eight as Jordan would get sideways, almost going around, but was able to keep it going straight with McGlashan continuing to lead, now ahead of Woyslaw and Montanari.
The first caution of the event would fall on lap 10 as Noble would make contact with the wall. At the halfway mark, McGlashan would lead Montanari, Woyslaw, Semeraro, Phinnemore, Jordan, Lapcevich, Allard, McLean, Adams, Campbell, DeLeeuw, Bullen, Toope, Brooks and Inglis, St. Onge would use the caution to come down pit road and address a shifter problem with his ride, as the car kept jumping out of gear.
The restart gave Montanari the opportunity that he needed as he put the No. 98 Select Delivery/Dr. Jay Petrott Dental Surgeon ride out front of the field ahead of McGlashan as Phinnemore and Semeraro battled for third. St. Onge’s problem would continue as he headed back down pit road with three laps to go.
At the front of the field, it was all Nic Montanari as he scored the victory ahead of Cameron McGlashan, Stefan Semeraro, Bob Phinnemore, Stefan Woyslaw, Jeremy McLean, Chris Allard, Treyten Lapcevich, Fred Jordan, Wendy Adams, Josh Inglis, James Campbell, Melissa Bullen, Robert Toope, Lisa Deleeuw, Scott Brooks and Nick St. Onge.
