On Sunday, Chad Strawn made the trip to Sunset Speedway to test the No. 77 Eibach/Mild 2 Wild Modified in anticipation for the OSCAAR Modified season opener in a couple weeks at Sunset Speedway.
Following the changes made through the off-season with the help of Junior Hanley, the team left the speedway quite pleased with the performance of the car.
“We did a lot of changes over the winter,” Strawn commented. “It proved to be fast today and I guess we’ll see how it is against the other cars.”
Strawn will enter the Spring Velocity on May 16 as the defending race winner, as Sunset was one of two victories that he had last season. With the win under his belt, Strawn says it “definitely helps” the confidence level.
“When we did win, the car wasn’t 100% so trying to get it 100% and do a lot better,” he added.
Strawn will run the full OSCAAR schedule this year, while splitting the Ontario Modified Racing Series schedule with Brad Stevenson. Looking ahead at the rest of the OSCAAR schedule beyond Sunset, Strawn says he’s excited to get to Sauble Speedway later this summer.
“I can’t wait to go back to Sauble, actually,” he commented. “It reminds me of Mosport, just a bit smaller.”
The OSCAAR Modifieds will kick off their 2015 season at Sunset Speedway on May 16 with the Spring Velocity. They will be joined by the Can-Am TQ Midgets and the OSCAAR Midgets, with the OSCAAR Super Late Models doing their qualifying ahead of their feature on May 17.
