PORT CHARLOTTE, Florida (May 13, 2015) – – ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards driver Josh Williams made a special trip to Tampa following his most recent race at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway on May 1.
Williams returned to his home state to visit St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital in Tampa to check in on friend Anya Cale Harvey, the little girl that stole his heart.
Earlier this season, Josh Williams Motorsports (JWM) hosted 4-year old Anya Cale Harvey in the season-opener at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway. Last November, she was diagnosed with Leukemia and has undergone treatment since.
While her visit to the “World Center of Racing” was important to the Port Charlotte, Florida native, growing the bond with her has become top priority. His visit this past week was an experience that Williams won’t soon forget.
“She’s the brightest little girl that I’ve ever met for sure,” said Williams. “Every time she’s around, she definitely brightens the room up a bunch. And I just wanna do everything we can for her and keep the support rallying around her as long as we can.”
During his visit with Anya Cale Harvey, Williams and others participated in activities, including cementing their hand prints on paper plate to later integrate into a future race wrap.
The 21-year old driver also presented her with the race hood from ARCA events at Mobile (Ala.) International Raceway and Fairgrounds at Nashville for her room.
“I can’t begin to describe what this visit did for me,” added Williams. “Anya has really touched my heart and undoubtedly is determined to fight this battle. I make the promise that we will do what we can to help her and the family, while encourage others in the ARCA community to do the same.”
Williams and his team will continue to show their love and support for Anya by carrying a logo on their No. 6 Southwest Florida Cable Construction Chevrolet in Sunday’s Menards 200 presented by Federated Car Care at Toledo Speedway.
