WinStar World Casino 400 Event Preview – Texas Motor Speedway
“No Limits” For Gallagher in Texas
Texas Two-Timer … The high banks and high speeds of Texas Motor Speedway (TMS) welcome Spencer Gallagher, driver of the No. 23 Allegiant Travel Chevrolet, for the second time in his NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) career for Friday’s WinStar World Casino 400. Gallagher’s only previous start at “No Limits” Texas came in November of 2013 when he finished 20th. The Sunoco Rookie of the Year contender’s affinity for the wide open style of racing that the 1.5 mile tracks offer provides “no limit” as he continues his climb up the NCWTS standings.
Season to Date … Last week at Dover International Speedway, Gallagher scored a 12th-place finish, his second-best result of the 2015 season. As a result, the Las Vegas native continued his ascent up the standings, and advanced into a tie for seventh in NCWTS points. Through six of the 23 races, Gallagher has a best-finish of 10th at Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway, and has notched four top-15 finishes.
Texas Chassis Choice… Crew chief, Jeff Stankiewicz, will unload chassis No. 022 for Gallagher’s second start at TMS. Most recently, Gallagher was relegated to a 17th-place result in this chassis at Kansas Speedway due to engines woes. This chassis was the Allegiant Travel team’s workhorse in 2014, racing on seven occasions with driver Joey Coulter. This is the second scheduled race of 2015 for chassis No. 022.
Travel is Our Deal … Allegiant offers non-stop to four destinations in the state of Texas, including Austin (AUS), which services the surrounding region of Fort Worth, Texas and TMS. With low-low fares, nonstop flights, all-jet service and premier travel partners, Allegiant provides a complete travel experience with a great value without all the hassle.
Tune-In Alert … GMS Racing hosts a weekly webcast series as a behind-the-scenes experience for fans. “Before the Green Flag” features race previews and storylines leading up to race weekends with interviews from drivers and all of the personalities that make up GMS Racing. Before the Green Flag can be found on the GMSracing.net Multimedia page, GMS Racing’s Youtube Channel, and at GMSRacingLLC on Facebook and Twitter.
Meet Spencer … The second of four collectible hero cards for Gallagher debut this weekend at TMS. The second edition 2015 hero card design is available to fans beginning at the NCWTS autograph session, which Gallagher is scheduled to attend, on Friday from 3:30-4:15 p.m. ET.
SPENCER GALLAGHER QUOTE:
On making his second start at TMS:
“I love going to the one and a half mile, high speed tracks. We got our best finish this season at Charlotte (Motor Speedway), and I’m looking forward to see what kind of speed we have in our Allegiant Travel Chevrolet this weekend. Texas (Motor Speedway) is extremely fast, but the temperature this time of year will alter the style of racing. The surface has aged quite a bit, so I expect that the pace will slow down throughout a fuel run. Track position will certainly be important, but fuel mileage could play a role as well. Our Allegiant Travel team has been improving each week, and hopefully we can put a good, complete race together, and continue to inch towards the top five in points.”
