INNISFIL, Ontario — A.J. Emms would battle hard all Saturday night at Sunset Speedway, just coming shy of scoring a top-10 in feature action.
Emms started off the night solidly, finishing fourth and seventh in his qualifying heats to start the feature in the 10th position. The start of the race didn’t go as he would’ve hoped, dropping back to the 12th position by the first caution at lap five. He would pick it right back up, though, moving into 10th by the second caution at lap 13.
The racing after the restart would get chaotic, would trouble happening in front of Emms at lap 16. he would avoid the spinning car of Dan Price, keeping all four fenders clean on his No. 99 Adams Motorsports Modified to run in the 11th position. Emms kept battling, making his way into the top-10 after the restart and battled Tommy Robb for eighth at lap 19. He would clear him to grab the position just before the caution flew for a pair of cars getting tangled up in turn one.
The final restart didn’t go as he wanted, though, as battling a loose racecar, he fell back to the 11th spot before the checkered flag fell.
