INNISFIL, Ontario — On Saturday night at Sunset Speedway, Jordan Latimer would finish 11th in the first feature, before being caught up in a wreck in the second feature.
Latimer started off the night by laying down a lap of 15.238 seconds in time trials to qualify 16th for the first of the two 35-lap features.
Starting in the 16th spot, Latimer began moving up through the field in the early going, getting by Ian Bourque on lap 12 to take the 12th spot. He would look to grab the 11th spot from Brittney Gresel on lap 22, with the pair making contact but both able to continue.
Latimer would get the 11th spot, but with the field being strung out due to the lack of cautions, he was unable to catch 10th place before the end of the feature. As a result, he crossed the finish line in 11th.
With the 14-car invert, Latimer would start the second feature from the fourth spot. He would battle side-by-side with Thayne Hallyburton in the early going, falling back to fifth on lap eight. He would then fall back to the sixth spot on lap 12, courtesy of a pass by eventual feature winner Nick Goetz.
Following a slew of restarts, Latimer would fall back another pair of spots to eighth by lap 22, though moved back up to seventh before the fourth caution flew with nine laps to go. A pair of back-to-back cautions would fly in the next couple of laps, but Latimer was able to keep his nose clean, solidly running in the top-10.
Everything would change on the restart, though, as a three-wide battle ahead of Latimer would turn ugly, with a pair of cars going around. This ultimately left Latimer nowhere to go, making heavy contact that ultimately ended his night prematurely.
