INNISFIL, Ontario —- On Sunday at Sunset Speedway in the 35-lap feature against some of the best from across the province, Terry Woodley ran up front all race long en route to his first top-five of the season.
Woodley started off the night on a solid note, posting a second place finish in his lone qualifier heat of the afternoon. With a draw setting up the front starting spots for the feature, Woodley had luck on his side as he drew the top starting spot.
Starting on the pole behind the wheel of the No. 6 Zeggil Custom Homes.com, CARS Collingwood Automotive Repair Services, Lil Loads, PWL Electrical, Greenview Graphics, Nottawasaga Mechanical, Ernie’s Performance Mini Stock, Woodley would fall back to second on the drop of the green flag, slipping in behind Flamboro Speedway front runner Blair Wickett. He would continue to run second till the first caution at lap eight.
On the restart, he would fall back to fifth as eventual race winner Warren Paxton, Danny Benedict and Kyle Baker made their way by. Solidly sitting in the fifth spot, he would continue to hold down the spot through the middle portion of the feature as he made his way through lap traffic. The caution would then fly with 15 laps to go for a spin in the back half of the pack.
On the restart, Woodley would once again get passed, falling back to sixth behind Treyten Lapcevich. He was then able to get back alongside Lapcevich at lap 23, passing him back to get the fifth spot back.
For the final 12 laps, Woodley continued to run strong, posting good lap times, as Lapcevich worked at him, inside and out, trying to snag the fifth spot back. Woodley would then edge the youngster at the line to capture a fifth place finish for his first top-five of the season.
Beyond this being his first top-five of the year, it also marks his eighth straight top-10 finish, dating back to a trip to Sauble Speedway last month.
