Heckert Looks To Make It Four In A Row
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Scott Heckert will look to add another road course victory to his resume Saturday at VIRginia International Raceway in Alton, Virginia, in the Biscuitville 125.
The Ridgefield, Connecticut, native has won the last three road course events on the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East schedule. His most recent victory came at New York’s Watkins Glen International in the Bully Hill Vineyards 125. The 23-year-old led 22 laps to earn his third road course victory and his fourth career win overall in the series.
Heckert won at both the 2.25-mile Virginia road course and Watkins Glen last season. He earned his first victory at the famed New York road-course after leading only two laps. Two weeks later, he traveled to VIR and earned his second road course win after leading 11 laps to beat Cameron Hayley, Austin Hill and Gray Gaulding.
In 2013, Heckert scored top-10 finishes at VIR and had two top 10s at the series’ two other road course events.
A win at VIR would also allow Heckert to continue to pressure K&N East points leader William Byron and close the gap between the two in the championship battle. Byron is currently 12 points ahead of Heckert in the standings (437-425).

FAST FACTS:
The Race: The Biscuitville 125 will be the 12th of 14 races on the 2015 NASCAR K&N Pro Series East schedule. It’s the third time the series has visited the Virginia track and the second road course event for the series this season.
The Procedure: The starting field is 30 cars, including provisionals. The first 26 cars will qualify through NASCAR road course style group qualifying. The remaining four spots will be awarded through the provisional process. The race will be 55 laps (123.75 miles).
The Track: VIRginia International Raceway originally opened in 1957 and was closed from 1974 to 2000, when it was reopened by Harvey Siegel. VIR offers five track configurations. The Full Course is 3.27-miles in length while the Patriot Course stretches for 1.1-miles entirely inside the Full Course. The North Course measures 2.25-miles in length and the South Corse covers a distance of 1.65-miles. The Grand East course is the longest at 4.2-miles and is made up of the Full and Patriot courses. Overall, the facility includes three separate paddocks with timing towers, separate skid pads, covered tech bays in the North Paddock, classrooms, full service restaurants, a pro shop, restrooms with showers and several lodging options. The Biscuitville 125 will be contested on the North Course.
VIR RACE NOTES:
HScott Road Course Success: HScott Motorsports has found they key to succeeding on road courses. At the series’ first road course event at Watkins Glen, Heckert, Dalton Sargeant and JJ Haley finished in the top-three, while William Byron finished seventh and Rico Abreu finished 12th. In June, Sargeant, Haley and Byron competed in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West event at Sonoma and finished second, third and fifth, respectively.
Hill and Grala Looking For Redemption: Austin Hill and Kaz Grala are seeking wins at VIR after placing in the top-five last year. Hill finished third last season in the Biscuitville 125 while Grala finished fifth. Both will have a lot to prove after having rough showings at Watkins Glen International earlier this month, Hill finished sixth while Grala was 15th.
Chevrolet Is The Manufacturer To Beat: Chevrolet has proven to be the car to beat at the Virginia road course. In the two NASCAR K&N Pro Series East events at the track, Chevrolet ended up in Victory Lane both times with Dylan Kwasniewski and Scott Heckert.
Home Tracks: Virginia A Hot Spot For Racing
Virginia is home to four NASCAR Whelen All-American Series tracks: Langley Speedway, Motor Mile Speedway, South Boston Speedway and Lonesome Pine Raceway. Two-time defending NASCAR Whelen All-American Series national and Virginia state champion Lee Pulliam currently finds himself in a familiar spot, at the top of the Virginia standings. Through August 19, Pulliam leads the Whelen All-American Virginia state standings with 612 points. VIRginia International Raceway will host the Cooper tires Prototypes Lites as a support series for the Biscuitville 125 this year, and the track hosted IMSA’s top divisions last weekend.
