INNISFIL, Ontario — Following an incident on track that resulted in the radiator getting a hole punched in it, Chad Strawn would suffer a DNF in the Velocity 250 at Sunset Speedway.
Strawn started off the weekend on a solid note on Saturday, finishing third and second in his pair of heats. As a result, he would start Sunday’s feature from the sixth spot.
Strawn would quickly move up to the fifth spot in the opening laps, holding off a challenge from behind as the laps continued to add up on the board. The first caution would then fly on lap eight for a fellow competitor spinning in turn three and four. There would be debris left on the track, which Strawn would hit, puncturing the tire; he would then make his way down pit road and get it changed.
Restarting from the back of the field, he would look to work his way through, but was unable to make much ground before the second caution at lap 21. He would then use the caution as an opportunity to head down pit road for some adjustments.
Restarting once again at the back of the field, he would look to make his way through the field once again when a pair of drivers would get together in front of him. Strawn would hit a piece of debris, which would punch a hole into the radiator, ending his night early.
S&S Racing will be back on track this weekend at Frostoberfest at Flamboro Speedway for the last round of the Ontario Modified Racing Series season with Brad Stevenson behind the wheel. Strawn will then be behind the wheel for the Autumn Colors Classic at Peterborough Speedway. The final race of the season will mark Strawn’s final OSCAAR start as he is set to take some time off.
“With two young children and a hectic job, Chad is taking time off from racing,” S&S Racing team owner Brian Strawn stated. “Brad Stevenson will be taking over car for next year. Chad has had a fast car for the last three years, has won several races few features and a lot of bad luck this year. But all in all, he has done a great job piloting the 77 OSCAAR Modified against a great group of guys in the series.”
