DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Due to substantial rainfall in Hickory and additional precipitation forecast through Sunday, NASCAR and officials at Hickory Motor Speedway have cancelled the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour MTP Tire 150.
The race was originally scheduled for the North Carolina track on Saturday and pre-emptively moved to Sunday when heavy rain began at week’s end. NASCAR officials visited the track today and determined the surface will not be suitable for racing tomorrow.
The NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour will conclude the season on Thursday, Oct. 8 on the front stretch quarter-mile at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Defending series champion Andy Seuss leads brothers Burt and Jason Myers by 10 points apiece. Four-time champion George Brunnhoelzl III is just 13 points out of the lead.
