PETERBOROUGH, Ontario — Making his final OSCAAR start before taking some time off, Chad Strawn would post a solid performance in the Autumn Colours Classic with a sixth place finish.
Strawn started off the weekend well, finishing sixth in his heat on Friday night. He then came back on Saturday and won his heat to set him up to start sixth for the 50-lap feature.
Strawn would escape an early wreck that happened ahead of him, running fourth at lap five. He would drop back to sixth over the middle of the race, but still looked to be in a promising spot to challenge for a podium finish in the late going.
Things would change on a lap 34 restart as there would be contact made by another competitor, causing Strawn to slide up the track and lose a bunch of spots, falling back to 11th. He would then move back up into the top-10 with 11 laps to go after avoiding an incident ahead of him.
He then avoided the trouble that happened over the course of the final restarts, as well as a couple well-timed passes en route to a sixth place finish.
As noted, the Autumn Colours Classic marked quite possibly Strawn’s last OSCAAR start behind the wheel of the No. 77 Eibach and Kingsmen Kustoms Modified for his final OSCAAR event as he will be taking next year off.
“With two young children and a hectic job, Chad is taking time off from racing,” S&S Racing team owner Brian Strawn stated. “Brad Stevenson will be taking over car for next year. Chad has had a fast car for the last three years, has won several races few features and a lot of bad luck this year. But all in all, he has done a great job piloting the 77 OSCAAR Modified against a great group of guys in the series.”
The year isn’t quite over yet for S&S Racing as they will return to Flamboro Speedway on October 24 for the second half of Frostoberfest. During qualifying earlier this month, Strawn posted a heat win.
