Charlotte, N.C. (October 9, 2015) – On Thursday night, Shannon Koch wheeled her way to a victory in the Motor Racing Outreach’s Better Half Dash at Charlotte Motor Speedway. After raising over $15,000 for MRO and the Speedway Children Charities, Koch started on the pole.
“I had a blast with the Better Half Dash ladies and getting Matt [Kaulig] to victory lane was even better,” said Shannon Koch. “Starting on the pole definitely helped. Thank you so much for all of the donations that went to MRO. I had a blast and I can’t thank LeafFilter Gutter Protection enough for coming on board!”
The No. 8 LeafFilter Gutter Protection Camry featured a “PINK” paintscheme, in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month. Koch led for the majority of the 25-lap event, but was involved in an on-track incident around lap 10 that took the back portion of her Camry completely off. Koch continued on track after the wreck and wheeled her way to victory lane.
“I am so proud of Shannon and the way she drove yesterday,” said Matt Kaulig, President and Owner of LeafFilter Gutter Protection. “It was awesome seeing her celebrate in victory lane.”
The Better Half Dash is a charity race, where the ladies of NASCAR battle for 25-laps on track at Charlotte Motor Speedway. All proceeds brought in by each driver is donated to the Motor Racing Outreach and the Speedway Children’s Charities.
“I am so proud of her [Shannon], she did great and sealed the deal,” said Blake Koch, husband of the winning driver. ‘Thanks to LeafFilter for making it possible to raise the money for MRO and compete in the race!”
Although Shannon wheeled her way to a victory, she has said that she is set to retire at the end of this year!
