PETERBOROUGH, Ontario — Despite having a flat tire partway through the 75-lap feature, Rick Walt would drive through the field en route to posting a fourth place finish.
Walt started off the weekend by finishing third in his heat on Friday night, followed by a seventh place finish on Saturday night.
Virtue of winning the Chase for the Colours event in August, Walt would start the feature from the pole. He would grab the early advantage, leading through the first three cautions before falling back to fourth. Walt would move up to third, avoiding a spin by Mike Bentley at lap 11. He would then fall back to fourth on the restart and remained there till lap 19. Walt’s game plan for the feature would change at this time as he would have a flat tire, forcing a trip down pit road under yellow.
Restarting from the tail of the field, Walt would begin his climb back through, moving into 11th at lap 29. He would then make three more passes to move up into eighth with 27 laps to go. He would avoid some contact ahead of him and with a couple more passes, Walt was able to move up into fourth with 10 laps to go. Walt would finish out the feature strong, crossing the finish line with a fourth.
“Well, don’t really no where to start with our weekend but just had a ton of fun racing for Bakers,” Walt commented. “We had a bad fast car and were just riding when we got a flat. Came in, boys changed it and we started our drive back to the front, made it back to 4th! Just want to thank Kyle, Sherry and Dwayne Baker for everything they did to give us the best car possible and to Eldon Wallis for all his support. And also my family for helping me out and of course my smoking hot wife! And to everyone on the Baker crew thanks for allowing us to join your team and help all weekend long!”
