David Levine rallied to an eighth place finish on Friday night in the No. 59 Momo / Ford Performance / TraqGear Ford Fusion in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards season finale at Kansas Speedway. It was his 11th top ten finish in the 2015 season, and his sixth straight top ten at a track 1.5 miles in length or longer.
“Ended the season with another top 10 at a place I’ve never been to before,” David commented after the race. “Qualifying did not go well, but we still were able to battle back to 8th! I can’t thank Lira Motorsports, Traqgear Racing Innovations, MOMO Motorsport and Ford Performance enough for everything they’ve done this year.”
David started the Full Throttle S’loonshine 98.9 from the 26th position, after a mechanical issue leaving pit road prevented him from participating in qualifying. He advanced to the 11th place by lap 5, and never fell out of the top 15 for the remainder of the 99 lap event.
David’s Crew Chief, Sam Schram, took the opportunity to bring David in for tires, adjustments and fuel during four of the five caution periods that fell during the race.
On lap 85, under the fifth and final caution of the race, the No. 59 crew made a final set of adjustments and put the tires David had started the race with back on the car. David restarted in the 13th position, then proceeded to pass five cars in the closing laps, crossing the finish line in 8th place in the final race of ARCA’s 63rd season.
“It was good to finish the year with a solid run,” David said. “Racing with a new team, I was the highest ranked rookie in the overall points, and our team was the highest Ford in the drivers points. Hopefully we can find the funding and come back next year and win some races!!”
