Going into the 2016 NASCAR season, there will be no more Miss. Coors Light when it comes to the Coors Light Pole Award presentations. Amanda Mertz, who was Miss. Coors Light for this past season, posted a note on her facebook, detailing the situation.
There’s no easy way to say this & I can’t tell you how saddened I am to have to write this type of post but I feel like I owe everyone an answer when asked if I will be returning next year as MCL. In fact, that was the 2016 plan. I am sad to announce that Coors Light is going through a rebranding/budget cut phase & they had to make a last second decision, there will no longer be a Miss Coors Light program within the sport of NASCAR.
My heart is broken for the people who have been behind this program & put so much effort each & every weekend into making it such a respectable role within the sport. This year has been more than a dream come true, from meeting some of my best friends, getting to interview this level of talent, traveling around the U.S, to watching Jeff Gordon take his last ride in NASCAR. I’ll have these memories to cherish for the rest of my life.
However, this once dream job was taken away last minute and it now feels like a nightmare. As I’ve stressed, this wasn’t something we were prepared for so I am now out of a job. If anyone has any connections to media/entertainment/reporter/hosting job, I’d greatly appreciate any leads. I am currently based out of Nashville but willing to relocate for the right position.
I am not only posting this to tell everyone about my current situation but I also want to end this on a happy, positive note. I have been blessed by God to have this one amazing year with MillerCoors & GMR Marketing. I want to thank each & every friend, family member & fan who were behind me for this journey. When one door closes, another door opens & as much as I want to be able to control my journey, God makes those decisions & this is all part of his plan. Thank you to everyone I met this year involved in NASCAR, I hope to see you all again next year. Please share this with your friends & keep your eyes out for any openings!
