PORT COLBORNE, ONTARIO… (April 6, 2016) The New Humberstone Speedway would like to introduce a brand new event coming to the speedway, the Dawn of Destruction.
The Enduro will feature two 30 lap segments paying $100 to win each with breaks in between which will allow teams to cool cars, change tires, etc. The top five from each segment will then be lined up at the front of the final 15 lap segment which will pay $500 to win, $250 for second and $125 for third, all in cash!
This brand new event will also see for the first time, a construction crush-off championship. Fans will see the best equipment operators in the business beat up some heavy metal as they battle for the first Dawn of Destruction Construction Crush-Off Championship.
Other popular events such as the Ladies Race, Backwards Race, Figure 8, Enduro-Cross, Side-by-Side Race and the Roll-Over Contest will have fans sitting on the edge of their seats throughout the afternoon. The Backwards Race, Figure 8, Enduro-Cross and the Side-by-Side Race will each pay $250 to win, $125 for second and $100 for third. The Ladies Race payout will be based on car count.
In addition to pay-outs, all event winners will be entered into the $100,000 to win Safecracker Contest on Sunday September 18, 2016! “We have had the Safecracker contest now for three seasons and we are hoping that the third time is the charm and we will have someone leave the speedway that night with $100,000” stated Humberstone Public Relations Director Steven Petty.
As part of the on track activities, drivers from two of Humberstone’s weekly classes, the DIRTcar Sportsman and the Street Stocks will be racing in an Invitational Demonstration. “This is a great way to show our new fans the great action we have going on here every Sunday Night in the summer” says Humberstone Speedway General Manager Bob Davidson. In addition, any of Humberstone’s race teams whose cars are ready to go for the season is encouraged to show off their racing machines and sign autographs prior to the Dawn of Destruction.
After the Dawn of Destruction, stock car racing returns to the historic Port Colborne speedplant on Sunday May 1st for the 57th season opener. The DIRTcar Sportsman will be joined by the RUSH Late Models, Street Stocks, Mini Stocks and the Pro 4 Trucks. Race time on May 1st is at 6:30pm.
