BRIGHTON (April 13, 2016) – Brighton Speedway revealed its 2016 schedule last month and is now gearing up for the start of its 49th season of racing. Among the highlights to the track’s upcoming campaign is the 12th annual edition of the Part Source Applefest Shootout presented by Cool 100.
Inclement weather in the weeks preceding the Applefest Shootout last year forced a handful of changes to the event. The additions to the show were well received by both fans and track officials and led to the decision to adopt the new format moving forward.
This year’s edition of the show will run on Friday, September 23 and Saturday, September 24. In addition to the 358 Modifieds headlining the weekend with the Image Factor 100-lap shootout on Saturday, the Sportsman Modifieds will now compete in 35-lap events on both nights. Friday marks an invitational Sportsman race before the DIRTcar Sportsman tour race on Saturday.
Also added to the card is the Excel Tower Service Great Crate Race for the Go Nuclear Late Model Series. The 65-lap event is one of the biggest Crate Late Model races in the Northeast. The event in coupled with a RUSH Late Model Weekly Series invitational on Friday night.
The finale to the 2016 Duel in the Dirt between Brighton, Humberstone, Merrittville and Ohsweken Speedway’s will see the Brighton Automotive Pro Stocks battle for 50-laps on Saturday evening as well. The final points night for Brighton Pro Stock drivers is also on Friday night when the Bill’s Johns Comp 4s and Quinte Septic Stingers are also in action.
Add to the card the Eastern Ontario Vintage Stock Car Club on Friday evening and the OilGARD Canadian Modifieds on Saturday night, it’s an action-packed event no racing fan will want to miss.
Adult admission to Friday night’s event is just $15 and the Saturday night season finale featuring four major events is just $28.
Brighton Speedway’s 49th season begins on Saturday, April 30 with the Monster Energy Season Opener presented by UCB Canada. Admission is just $2 with the donation of a non-perishable food item. Donations support the Brighton Fare Share Food Bank.
