Wins Second Race Of The Weekend For The Belgian Team
Following Anthony Kumpen’s win in the ELITE 1 Division earlier today, Stienes Longin (#11 PK Carsport Chevrolet SS) won a fierce but fair battle with Salvador Tineo Arroyo (#54 CAAL Racing Chevrolet SS) in the ELITE 2 Round 1 at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia, Spain to score his second career NWES win and bring the second trophy to PK Carsport.
“It was a hard race today,” said Longin, who won his first race at Tours Speedway in 2015. “Tineo was very fast, I really had to push hard to have the better hand on him. I passed him once and he answered immediately, but I pushed him to make a few mistakes and I think that’s how we won it. I’ll try to do the same tomorrow.”
The PK Carsport vs. CAAL Racing battle continued for third place, but it was Guillaume Deflandre (#56 CAAL Racing Chevrolet SS) who beat Gabriele Gardel (#24 PK Carsport Chevrolet SS) to the line by just .5 seconds. Russian Rookie Roman Mavlanov (#15 Dexwet Renauer Team Ford Mustang) looked strong at the wheel of the #15 Dexwet Renauer Team Ford Mustang as he quickly closed the gap from Deflandre and Gardel, but had to settle for fifth, leading the Rookie Cup in front of Riccardo Geltrude (#7 Double-T by Nocentini Ford Mustang). Hugo Bec (#3 Tepac RDV Compétition Ford Mustang) came home seventh, while Eric De Doncker won the Legend Trophy classification with the eighth place. Martin Doubek (#5 Dexwet Renauer Team Ford Mustang) and Simone Laureti (#9 Double-T by Nocentini Ford Mustang) rounded out the top-10.
Arianna Casoli (#8 Vict Motorsport Ford Mustang) collected the Lady Cup Trophy by finishing 19th.
Things will mix in the ELITE 2 Round 2 as Longin set the fastest lap of the race in 1:42,580 to conquer the pole position. Deflandre will start from the first row, followed by Gardel and Tineo Arroyo. The second race of the season will be streamed live on Fanschoice.tv at 10:30 am CET.
