BRIGHTON, Ont. (April 25, 2016) – Brighton Speedway will welcome fans and drivers back on Saturday, April 30 to kick start its 49th racing season with the Monster Energy Season Opener presented by UCB Radio Canada.
Admission for all ages to the opening night event is just $2 with donation of a non-perishable food item. All food donations are in support of the Brighton Fare Share food bank. Spectator gates open at 5:30pm for the 7:00pm start time. As always, hot laps and warm-ups are at 6:00pm.
On the card for the season opener are the Vanderlaan Building Products Pro Late Models, Bainer’s OilGARD Canadian Modifieds, Brighton Automotive Pro Stocks, and Bill’s Johns Comp 4s.
The Pro Late Models will compete in a 30-lap feature, while the Canadian Modifieds battle for 25 turns around the 1/3-mile oval. Pro Stocks will have a 20-lap distance and Comp 4 drivers face a 15-lap task.
Several Brighton Speedway Pro Late Model drivers already have a race under their belt following last weekend’s Go Nuclear Late Model Series race in New York and are well prepared to start the season close to home.
The Canadian Modified field will be especially impressive as several drivers bring new cars and a new look to the track this season. Reigning Comp 4 champion Shelby Mills has moved up to the division for 2016 to add to a long list of veterans looking for a checkered flag.
Both the Pro Stock and Comp 4 divisions are expected to have ultra-competitive fields. Justin Ramsay returns to defend his Pro Stock championship, while Mills’ departure leaves the Comp 4 championship wide open for a new driver.
