BLOOMFIELD, Ont. (April 26, 2016) – Dan Ferguson is set to return to Canadian Modified action at Brighton Speedway next Saturday night after a successful five-win season in 2015.
Known as the ‘Bloomfield Bullet’, Ferguson hopes to build on the team’s consistent history that includes five wins, 13 top-fives and 16 top-10 finishes in each of the last two seasons.
“We’ve had good consistent runs the last three years. We just want to go and do our thing. Hopefully we can put ourselves in the spot we did last year to win a championship, but with a better result,” the Bloomfield native said ahead of the season opening race.
Ferguson returns to the track with the same car that finished the season last September, although fans may notice a few changes.
“This year we wanted the bigger aluminum nose on the front. That’s pretty much all we changed, but the car has totally different colours,” he said, without revealing what’s in store for his new look.
While the changes are mostly aesthetic, Ferguson hopes a handful of adjustments beneath the body panels will help push him to a fifth career division championship in 2016.
“Of course you want to win every race you start and win the championship. If we can win a bunch of races and set ourselves up so we’re at least in the hunt at the end, than I’m happy. That’s my goal,” stated the second-generation driver.
To meet his goal, Ferguson knows he’ll have to pace himself one race at a time in order to beat a difficult group of competitors.
“I’ve always said the Modified class has the most competitive field. We’re all pretty evenly matched,” Ferguson said emphatically. “There’s eight or more cars that can win any night. You don’t know who’s going to win. Everybody keeps stepping up.”
As Ferguson looks forward to the opening night he knows his championship bid is due mostly to the support of his marketing partners.
“They’re the most important part of our race team. We’ll be sure to make them proud this season,” Ferguson said.
Ferguson will also pull double duty on opening night, driving the Rand Motorsports Pro Late Model in addition to his Canadian Modified entry. Race time on Saturday, April 30 is 7:00pm. Additional event information is available at www.brightonspeedway.ca.
