PORT COLBORNE, ONTARIO… (April 24, 2016) Karl Sault, Emily Puchalski, Jason Coutu, made the headlines after winning their events at the inaugural Dawn of Destruction presented by Tidyman Maintenance at the Humberstone Speedway on Sunday afternoon.
Enduro John Robinson and Karl Sault led the early portion of the first segment. Karl Sault took the lead early on and went on to win the first Enduro segment. Sault continued his dominance as he dominated the second Enduro segment and picked up the victory. The final segment for all the glory and the cash saw Karl Sault and Jason Coutu on the front row with Sault showing the way. Sault was leading over Coutu and Emily Puchalski. After a red flag, Sault continued to show the way over Dillan Sliter and Emily Puchalski. Sault would pick up the win in the Enduro over Emily Puchalski and Dillan Sliter.
Operators from Walters Excavators and Peters Excavating competed in the inaugural Dawn of Destruction Construction Crush-Off and it was a fans vote that decided a winner and the winner was Darren Peters from Peters Excavating.
Six ladies competed in the Ladies Race and it was Cherry Halls and Emily Puchalski showing the way. Puchalski would take the lead from Halls and would check out on the rest of the field. Puchalski would go on and pick up the victory in the Ladies Race over Victoria Gravestock and Cherry Halls.
Jason Coutu showed the early advantage in the Backwards Race. Rob Goulding would take the lead away from Coutu on lap four. Coutu would regain the lead on the last lap from Goulding to pick up the win. Coutu would continue his winning ways on the afternoon as he would hold off R. Bonds in picking up the win in the Figure 8’s.
Karl Sault took the lead from Glen Hills early in the Enduro-Cross event but Hills would regain the lead and would open up his advantage. Sault would reel in his Uncle Glen and the duo would exchange the lead late and Glen Hills would pick up the win in the Enduro-Cross. The team of led by Craig Gilbert was the leader early on in the popular Side-By-Side Race. The team of Rodney Rutherford and Karl Sault would take the lead and went on to pick up the win in the Side By-Side Race.
The Humberstone Speedway will officially kick off their 2016 stock car racing schedule on Sunday May 1st for the 57th season opener. The DIRTcar Sportsman, RUSH Late Models, Street Stocks, Mini Stocks and the Pro 4 Trucks will all be on the racing card. Gates will swing open at 4:30pm with racing getting underway at 6:30pm.
