by Tommy Goudge (May 4, 2016) – Six Nations, Ontario – Alex Hill’s #77x Sprint Car stayed in the trailer last weekend, as rain cancelled all of her scheduled events. She and her team are hoping for dry weather this weekend when they head to Central New York.
Including Attica Raceway Park and Fremont Speedway last weekend, Alex has already seen 6 of her races cancelled due to rain this season. Saturday’s Sprints On Dirt series event at Crystal, Michigan was also a possibility for the team, but it too was rained out.
Alex will now try two venues she’s never raced at – Outlaw Speedway (formerly Black Rock Speedway), and Canandaigua Motorsports Park. The races are the opening events for the American portion of the Patriot Sprint Tour schedule.
“I’ve watched at (Canandaigua) before, so it’s somewhat familiar,” Alex noted. “I’ll just have to watch the hot laps and heats, and then go on from there for both tracks.”
Teammates Cory Turner and Dain Naida didn’t have much better luck with the weather last weekend; Cory was rained out at Five Mile Point Speedway in New York, while Dain was rained out at Michigan’s Crystal Speedway.
Cory was able to compete in the Empire Super Sprints event at Fulton, New York on Friday, despite threatening weather all day. He advanced through his heat race on a track surface he described as “hammer down all night”, and was moving forward in the feature race until a tipover put an end to his night.
