Five divisions are in action this Saturday, including the season debut for the Quinte Septic Stingers. The Vanderlaan Building Products Pro Late Models, Bainer’s OilGARD Canadian Modifieds, Brighton Automotive Pro Stocks and Bill’s Johns Comp 4s will also be in action following their opening night excitement last weekend.
Phil Potts was lightning quick out of the box to claim the points lead following opening night heat and feature wins. Steve Baldwin also earned a heat win and challenged Potts for the lead over the final three laps before settling for second. Adam Nayler, Brandon Mowat and Charlie Sandercock will look to build on their opening night top-five finishes.
In Canadian Modified action, Dan Ferguson pulled off the double-win, while defending champion Andrew Hennessy finished a close second in his new car. The top two drivers from one season ago look to build momentum early on, but will have their hands full with fellow top-five finishers Kraig Handley, Derrick Greig and Derek Bowers, among a hungry group of other drivers.
Justin Ramsay picked up where he left off from his 2015 championship season and scored the opening night victory in the Brighton Automotive Pro Stock feature. It didn’t come easily, however, as Ramsay had to fend off both Brandon Murrell and Jonah Mutton. Top-five finishers Mike Freeman and Austin Reid are also eager to start a string of top-five finishes.
Tyler French staked his claim at the top of the Bill’s Johns Comp 4 charts to start the season. The Trenton native defended the point from Adam Flieler, Luke Toms and Josh Read, who finished nose-to-tail in the 15-lap main event while Peter Moore completed the top-five. Expect more of the same this week from a competitive division.
