Peterborough, ON (May 24, 2016)- It was an action-packed night of excitement. Peterborough Speedway’s 2016 season opener treated fans to some incredible thrills from start to finish and everything is set continue Saturday, May 28 at Canada’s Toughest 1/3-Mile Paved Oval.
The Ontario Modifieds Racing Series, OSCAAR Midgets and Pro Midgets will join the home track Battlefield Equipment Rental 4Fun, Jiffy Lube Mini Stock and Paul Davis Systems Thunder Car divisions as the local faithful enjoys the next gripping chapter of adventure at the tight, tricky bullring on Mount Pleasant Road, west of the Liftlock City.
“We got the year off to a rocking start and the goal is to keep-up that momentum through the entire schedule,” said track owner and promoter J.P. Josiasse. “The pit area was packed and were putting cars and trailers everywhere and anywhere we could. There was even talk about putting some teams into the infield, but we managed to find room for everyone.”
Josiasse says he’s expecting some solid numbers for the year’s second event as well. OMRS brings about a dozen cars for every show, while the OSCAAR Midgets have traditionally been in the 20 to 25 range. The will be the first time that the Pro Midgets have been part of the program, but they should have impressive counts as well. Adding those counts to the 4Fun ranks who had close to 30 entries on opening night and the strong turnout expected from the Thunder Car and Mini Stock divisions should give the fans plenty to see.
“It’s a great combination of quality and quantity that we hope to maintain on a week-to-week basis,” said Josiasse. “As any promoter would tell you, a full pit area is something we all love to see and it translates to a terrific show for the fans.”
For the Saturday, May 28th show pit gates are scheduled to open at 3:00, while the spectator grandstands will be unlocked at 5:00. The first qualifying heat of the night will take the Great Canadian RV Sales green flag at 6:00.
