Despite having to restart at the tail of the field with 10 laps to go, Eric Yorke would rebound to post a eighth place finish in the Spring Velocity at Sunset Speedway.
Yorke started off the weekend strong with a pair of solid runs in his heats to start ninth for the 35-lap feature. He’d quickly begun his march to the front, moving up to fourth by Lap 3. He took advantage of a restart with 27 laps to go to get by Warren Paxton to move up to the third spot.
He’d get alongside Miles Tyson at Lap 10, however the caution flew a lap later for a spin in turn two. The battle resumed on the restart, with Yorke moving up to the runner-up spot at Lap 12.
Yorke remained solidly in the spot, logging laps and set for a podium finish. However at the halfway point, a slow-car would die right in front of him, leaving him nowhere to go but make contact; the result would be the slower car of Peter Wakeling spinning. Due to being an involved car, he would have to restart from the tail end of the field.
He’d waste no time in working his way back towards the front, already back up to the 13th spot at Lap 29 when the caution flew. He’d get a good final restart with six laps to go, completing some more passes to cross the line in the eighth spot.
