Jade Franklin’s sophomore campaign is off to a stellar start as the teenager posted his second straight top-10 finish on Saturday night at Sunset Speedway.
Franklin started off the night solidly, finishing fourth to lock himself into the feature later on that night. He’d then post a solid 10th place finish in the Fast Qualifier’s Dash.
With the qualifying re-draw in place for the feature, Franklin started in the 10th position. The beginning stages didn’t go as well as hoped, as he fell back to 15th by Lap 3. However, he began to make his move to the front, moving back up to 11th by Lap 20. He then avoided an incident on a restart to move up another two spots to crack the top-10.
The final 10 laps played right into Franklin’s favor as he made some passes, crossing the finish line in the sixth spot.
“I don’t think it was too bad,” Franklin said of his night. “I could’ve been aggressive and up a couple positions, I think, but sixth place is good.”
Notably, the Jaded Motorsports driver struggled to find the handling in practice, battling a slick track with the hot conditions.
“The car wasn’t great in practice and the heats, but we put some wedge into it, made some changes and it was good,” he added.
Franklin and Jaded Motorsports are supported by Nitro Industrial Sales, Destination RV, Duivenvoorden Haulage Ltd, Adco Tires and Sales Incorporated, Stefco Racing Engines, King, North River Motorsports and Discovery Dream Homes this season.
