LONG POND, Pa. (June 1, 2016) – Charlie Shaver, Chairman & CEO of Axalta Coating Systems, will serve as Grand Marshal for the Axalta “We Paint Winners” 400 at Pocono Raceway Sunday, June 5.
Shaver, his daughter Caroline and Axalta Coating Systems Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer Joe McDougall, as well as his daughter Julia, will give the “start your engines” command.
The Air Force Rock Band will perform the National Anthem prior to Sunday’s race. The green flag for Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race is scheduled for 1 p.m.
Alyssa Golden will sing the National Anthem for the NASCAR XFINITY Series Pocono Green 250, with Crystal Day handling the responsibility for the ARCA Racing Series Presented by Menards #AnywhereIsPossible 200.
Pennsylvania Lieutenant Governor Mike Stack will serve as the Grand Marshal and give the command for the Pocono Green 250 while Josh Torres will handle both of those on Friday.

50/50 Raffle to Benefit the Children’s Hospital at Lehigh Valley Hospital – Pocono Raceway and the Mattioli Foundation are hosting a 50/50 Raffle to benefit the Children’s Hospital at Lehigh Valley Hospital. Last year’s jackpot was in excess of $50,000.Fans should look out for 50/50 Raffle volunteers, who will be roaming the entire facility, wearing bright yellow shirts all weekend long. One lucky fan will be announced before the end of Sunday’s race as the winner of the raffle.
Infield Block Party and Pocono Raceway Fireworks This Saturday – The public is invited to attend Pocono Raceway’s Infield Block Party and Fireworks show this Saturday night. For a $10 cash donation, per vehicle, to our local fire department, fans may enter the Gate 1 Tunnel starting at 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 4. Events include live music, the Barley Creek Brewing Company Wiffle Ball Field, great food, a bar for the adults and much more.
Jimmie Johnson Experience featuring NASA’s ‘Rockets 2 Racecars’ Program – Three-time Pocono winner Jimmie Johnson will visit for a kids-focused question-and-answer session, which also includes activities for kids presented by the NASA ‘Rockets 2 Racecars’ program, before Sunday’s race. Nathan’s Famous will return to Pocono Raceway this summer to hold a regional qualifying event for the annual Nathan’s Famous International Hot Dog Eating Contest held on July 4 in Coney Island, N.Y. Pocono Raceway fans are encouraged to sign-up to compete. One male and one female winner will earn a seat at Coney Island to challenge defending champions Matt Stonie and Miki Sudo. The Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest Qualifier will be held Sunday, June 5 at 11 a.m. in Fan Fare 2 behind the grandstands on the Nathan’s Famous stage. NASCAR Hall of Famer Richard Petty will participate in a question-and-answer session at 11 a.m. and will then drop the green flag on the contest.
Pocono Raceway will host seven national motorsports events during the 2016 racing season, including the Pocono Green 250 NASCAR XFINITY Series race for the inaugural time on June 4. The Axalta “We Paint Winners” 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) race is set for June 5, the Pennsylvania 400 NSCS race on July 31 and the ABC Supply 500 Verizon IndyCar Series race on August 21. The Pocono Mountains 150 NASCAR Camping World Truck race is scheduled for July 30 and two ARCA Series Presented by Menards races with General Tire #AnywhereIsPossible 200 on June 3 and the ModSpace 150 on July 29 offered as well.
