It seems things are starting to go Cameron McGlashan’s way as the sophomore would post his best finish of the 2016 season on Friday night.
McGlashan started off the night by finishing sixth in his heat, followed by drawing the pole for the feature. He put the No. 83 England Enterprises, Orvauto, Arbor Aces Tree Care Inc, Steelcase Tires ‘N’ Mags Inc, Taylor Drywalling & Taping, UPS, Wix Filters, www.geppettoland.ca, Lubecore Barrie, Gino’s Pizza Alcona, and Cabral Racing Promotions Mustang out front on Lap 1 ahead of the field.
He would lead all the way till Lap 8 when he was eventually passed for the top spot by Charlie Smith. From there on, he fell back a couple spots into the field, running fifth when the caution flew at Lap 12 for a pair of spins.
Restarting in the third spot, McGlashan slipped back just outside of the top-10 by the time the caution flew again with two laps to go. He’d cross the finish line in the ninth spot, but was credited with a seventh place finish as a result of the top-two cars being DQ’d.
“So proud of this team tonight,” he commented. “Car was in a thousand pieces yesterday morning. Me & Jason Taylor went to town on her to get it ready. The fact that we were able to go out and lead the first five or six laps and come home with our best finish of the year in seventh place tonight is awesome and I’m so stoked! I felt like we actually belonged in this division tonight. Can’t wait to keep improving on this thing with Bryan Walt & Jason Taylor.
