By Tommy Goudge (June 28, 2016) Six Nations, Ontario – Hill’s Racing drivers visited victory lanes in several locations last weekend, and will look for more wins this week.
Dain Naida won with the Patriot Sprint Tour at Stateline Speedway on Saturday, while Shone Evans won the Crate Sprint Car feature at Humberstone Speedway on Sunday, and Christopher Bell will be back in a Hill’s Sprint Car this week after a NASCAR Truck Series win at Gateway Motorsports Park.
Alex Hill will be back on the road this weekend with her #77x Sprint Car team after spending a couple of weekends racing closer to her southern Ontario home. The 16 year old spent last weekend studying for final exams, but still managed to fit some racing in.
Friday found Alex back at her home track at Ohsweken Speedway, where she drove from 6th to 4th in her heat race. A very dry, slick track greeted the drivers for the 20 lap A-Feature. Alex started 10th, but lost several positions on the start and spent the rest of the race playing catch-up. She eventually finished 17th.
“I blew it over the top again,” Alex lamented. “It’s hard to get around the top with no cushion…just gonna have to keep trying it up there.”
Alex was 5th in her heat race at Stateline Speedway with the Patriot Sprint Tour on Saturday, and took a 16th place finish in the A-Feature on another slick track.
Christopher Bell will drive in three events this week for the Hill’s Racing Team, beginning Wednesday with the World of Outlaws Sprint Car series at the famed Rockford Speedway in Illinois. Dirt has been trucked in to cover the paved surface of the nearly 70 year old track for the Outlaw Clay Classic, offering a unique opportunity for the teams.
Bell will then compete for the Hill’s team at Knoxville Raceway in National Sprint League 410 Sprint Car events on Friday and Saturday. Alex will race her 360 Sprint Car on Saturday at Knoxville, followed by a Sunday event with the ASCS Warrior Region at Double X Speedway in California, Missouri – another new track for her.
