By Tommy Goudge (July 13, 2016) Six Nations, Ontario – Alex Hill and her #77x Sprint Car team have had races scheduled every week since the middle of April, including two races last weekend. Alex will be a spectator this weekend as her team gears up for a busy schedule next week.
Alex’s weekend began on a strong note, as she won her heat race at Ohsweken, Ontario on Friday night. Everyone was also racing against the weather, which unfortunately closed in on the track just as the A-Feature was about to start. The “Six Nations Sensation” will have a front row starting spot when the postponed race is run on July 22 at Ohsweken Speedway, along with another full 360 Sprint Car event.
Saturday found the team 600 kilometres west of Ohsweken at Thunderbird Raceway in Muskegon, Michigan to race against the Sprints on Dirt series. Alex bounced back from a 6th place heat race finish to drive from 18th to 11th in the A-Feature, and earning “Hard Charger” and “Lucky Dog” awards.
Hill’s Racing teammates Cory Turner, Dain Naida, Shone Evans, Jerry Hill, and Steve Hess also saw their races postponed due to rain on Friday at Ohsweken.
“Dainomite” also went to Thunderbird on Saturday with his #17x, where the Tecumseh, Michigan resident came close to taking a podium spot before finishing 4th.
Turner took his #97 in the other direction, and raced in the Southern Ontario Sprints tour event at Brighton Speedway on Saturday. The Caistor Centre, Ontario driver led 19 laps of the A-Feature before settling for a runner-up finish.
The entire Hill’s Racing Team is gearing up for the end of July, when their home track at Ohsweken Speedway hosts three big events over five days between July 22 and July 26.
