After scoring his first heat victory last week, Robert Toope came back this week and posted a pair of top-10 finishes.
The night started off with the make-up feature from the week before, in which Toope put together a solid performance en route to a seventh place finish.
He kept the momentum rolling right into the qualifying races, finishing sixth in his heat, followed by a seventh place finish in the Fast Qualifier’s Dash.
Come feature time, Toope started from the ninth spot, looking to keep his top-10 streak afloat. He’d escape the early race incident near the front of the field to move up to eighth at Lap 5.
He’d get a good restart, moving all the way up to sixth as he battled current points leader Johnny Paradzinski for fifth. The caution then flew once again, though, as James Campbell spun in turn two.
Another good restart allowed Toope to remain with the front runners, racing Paradzinski for the sixth spot at Lap 14. Unfortunately, it didn’t fare in Toope’s favor as he’d fall back to eighth before the caution flew for an incident on the backstretch.
He’d get a good final restart on the night, but ultimately crossed the finish line in ninth.
Toope is proud to be supported by The Beach Bar and Grill, Trade Mark Signs, Rikota Mechanical, CCL Landscape Design, Auto Trim Barrie, The Tree Guys, Jimmy Sign (Adcon Enterprize), Revolution Tires, Highway 400 Transmission, The Stump King (Jim Herrington), Atkins Appliance, and South Bound Roofing in memory of Lloyd Robbins.
