Unfortunately, Saturday night did not go as Jordan Latimer planned with a pair of tough features at Sunset Speedway.
After qualifying 18th for the first 35 lap feature, Latimer battled against the slick track and competition to gain ground during the first half. However, in the closing laps, he was able to escape incidents which plagued his competitors en route to a 15th place finish.
Starting 15th for the second feature, he’d make up a little ground in the opening laps, poised to make up some more track position. Unfortunately, his feature went affray on Lap 15, though, as he was spun by Mike Bentley in turns one and two. The pair then made contact under caution, followed by a discussion, which resulted in Latimer being done for the evening.
Latimer and JL Motorsports are set to put the incident behind them, hoping for strong results this coming weekend on July 30 when they run triple features due to making up the rained out event on July 9.
