by Tommy Goudge (August 14, 2016) – Ohsweken, Ontario – Ohsweken Speedway officials have rescheduled the Art Hill Memorial 42, and several other events which were postponed due to weather in recent weeks.
Rain interrupted the Friday, August 5 event at Ohsweken, and completed washed out the Friday, August 12 Art Hill Memorial Night. The August 12 event was to have included makeup events for both the Strickland’s Crate Sprint Cars and Gale’s Auto Aftermarket Bombers. The following schedule changes have been made as a result:
-The Art Hill Memorial 42 will run in its entirety on August 26, replacing the regularly-scheduled event for the HRW Automotive Mini Stock division that night.
-The Strickland’s GMC Crate Sprint Car A-Feature postponed on July 8 has again been rescheduled, this time to August 19. Instead of the regularly-scheduled heat races and 20 lap A-Feature, the Crate Sprint Cars will compete in two 15 lap A-Feature events – no heat races will be run. The lineup from the postponed July 8 race will set the starting grid for the first A-Feature on August 19. The drivers with the top 8 fastest lap times in the first A-Feature will redraw for starting positions in the second A-Feature.
-The Gale’s Auto Aftermarket Bomber A-Feature postponed on August 5 has again been rescheduled, this time to August 19. Instead of the regularly-scheduled heat races and 12 lap A-Feature, the Bombers will compete in two 15 lap A-Feature events – no heat races will be run. The lineup from the postponed August 5 race will set the starting grid for the first A-Feature on August 19. Ohsweken Speedway’s handicapping system will set the starting grid for the second A-Feature, with cars which did not start the first race lining up at the rear of the field.
-As previously announced, the HRW Automotive Mini Stock A-Feature postponed on August 5 has been rescheduled to August 19. Instead of heat races, the qualifying format will be as follows: The lineup from the postponed August 5 race will set the starting grid for the first A-Feature on August 19. The top 20 finishers from the first A-Feature will transfer to the second A-Feature, and be lined up according to Ohsweken Speedway’s handicapping system. All non-qualified cars will then compete in an 8 lap B-Main, with the top 6 finishers transferring to the second A-Feature. The last 2 starting positions in the 28 car field for the second A-Feature will then be awarded to the top 2 drivers in the championship points standings who do not already have a qualified starting spot.
-As previously announced, the Strickland’s GMC Crate Sprint Car A-Feature which was postponed on August 5 has been rescheduled to August 26. The Twin 15 format being used on August 19 will be used again for the Crate Sprint Cars on August 26 – no heat races will be run.
-As previously announced, the Empire Super Sprints A-Feature which was postponed on August 5 has been rescheduled to September 16 as part of the Canadian Sprint Car Nationals weekend.
