HOGANSGURG, NY – September 16, 2016 – The Go Nuclear Late Model Series made its return to Mohawk International Raceway for the Dibbits Excavating Revenge Race and Brandon Mowat (No.46 Target Fabrication) was the class of the field through most of the 30-lap contest.
AJ Kingsley (No.9k Pit Stop Convenience) made it tough on him in the early going as the two drivers battled wheel to wheel for the top spot with Chad Homan (No.91 DigTrack.com), Phil Potts (No.29 Brighton Recycling) and former champion Charlie Sandercock (No.57 Bellevue Fabricating) closing fast.
Mowat broke away from Kingsley by lap 14 and was putting some good distance on the field. As the field battled through traffic on lap 18, third place runner Charlie Sandercock tangled with a lapped machine on the front stretch. Sandercock then spun out in turn two, ending his great run and a shot at victory. Sandercock raced back to a seventh-place finish.
When the green flew again, Kingsley did all he could to keep pace with Mowat while Homan, Chris Fleming (No.10 Hottenstein Bus Service) and Potts stayed close. With 5 to go Mowat was in complete control and was out front by well over a straightaway.
In the end Mowat had the fastest car on the track and claimed his second tour win of his career and of the year by more than four seconds. Kingsley came home second with Homan, Fleming and Potts completing the top-five.
The Go Nuclear Late Model Series returns to action tonight for the 4th annual Richard Tenance Memorial presented by Tenacious Sound on night two of the Mohawk Nationals. Race time is7:30pm. Additional event details are available at www.mohawkspeedway.com.
