Robert Toope saw his solid performance in the Velocity 250 spoiled by late-race contact which saw him go around.
Toope started off the weekend by finishing seventh in his first heat, followed by an eighth place finish in his second heat.
As a result of his pair of finishes, he had to run the b-main to determine whether he’d make the big show. Toope put together a solid performance, escaping a mid-race incident and a competitor’s last lap spin to finish fifth and be the final car to transfer to the main event.
Starting 28th in the 35-lap feature, he was set on gaining ground in the opening stages, running 19th as of the first caution at Lap 15. From there on, he was set to continue to gain some more ground, but it wasn’t meant to be. On Lap 30, Stefan Woyslaw got into the back of Toope, resulting in the No. 25 Mustang spinning around just off of turn four.
Restarting at the tail of the field, he was able to gain some ground in the last five laps, finishing the feature in 21st.
Toope will now head to Peterborough Speedway, looking to qualify for the Autumn Colours Classic on Thanksgiving weekend.
Toope is proud to be supported by The Beach Bar and Grill, Trade Mark Signs, Rikota Mechanical, CCL Landscape Design, Auto Trim Barrie, The Tree Guys, Jimmy Sign (Adcon Enterprize), Revolution Tires, Highway 400 Transmission, The Stump King (Jim Herrington), Atkins Appliance, and South Bound Roofing in memory of Lloyd Robbins.
